News Published on: September 13, 2024

The Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health (CWCDH), in collaboration with the University of Southampton and the Government of Sri Lanka, proudly announces the release of the 2024 Summary Report on Advancing the Global Futures Platform for Planet, People, and Peace (P4PPP). Co-authored by the Delta Team of Commonwealth Digital Health Fellows, alongside Dr Joanna Nurse as Editor and Supervisor, this report marks a significant milestone in addressing global security, environmental challenges, and human well-being through the use of innovative digital solutions.

Launched in September 2024, the report showcases the expanded framework of the Global Futures Platform, which now integrates over 400 digital tools aimed at enhancing global resilience against existential threats such as pandemics, climate change, and conflicts. Building on the work of the preceding Alpha, Beta, and Gamma teams, the Delta Team has placed particular emphasis on collaborative, open-access digital solutions designed to safeguard the future of humanity and our planet.

The report features contributions from key figures including Prof Vajira Dissanayake, Chair of CWCDH and the Global Futures Platform, and Prof James Batchelor, Director of the Southampton Hub. It outlines critical recommendations, including the development of a “Plan for the Planet”, focusing on sustainable growth, global digital governance frameworks, and strategies to mitigate emerging global threats.

Special recognition is given to the Delta Team members who co-authored this report: Dr Muditha Liyanagama, Dr Eranda Janaka, Dr Sonali Lunuwila, Dr Chamika Senanayake, Dr Abusayeed Haniffa, Dr Ruwan Perera, Dr Hasitha Pramod, and Dr Ranga Welikanne. Their work builds on the foundation laid by previous teams and has helped to further advance the vision of the Global Futures Platform.

The P4PPP Summary Report stands as a testament to the CWCDH’s vision of empowering communities through digital health and governance initiatives that foster global peace, planetary health, and human security.
